Ellie May Challis And Oscar Pistorious Race

After loosing her arms and legs to a near fatal attack of meningitus, Ellie May Challis’s community rallied together to raise $15,000 and in 2009, the 5-year-old became the youngest person ever to be fitted with carbon fiber prostheses. She wore them to her first day of school.

She is here racing against Paralympian, Oscar Pistorious, who changed history by being the first and only amputee athlete granted permission to race in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

For us, this sums up the unity and spirt that has been so prevalent in the London 2012 Olympics so far.
